Market-wide Half-Hourly Settlement (MHHS) will require all electricity meters to be settled on a half-hourly basis, meaning existing non-half-hourly meters will need to be upgraded.
While MHHS brings clear benefits, such as more accurate billing, better insight into energy usage, and the removal of estimated invoices, it will also introduce additional costs.
Once upgraded, meters are expected to cost around £500 per meter per year, depending on configuration and service options. Schools with older, non-communicating (“dumb”) meters will require manual readings every five to seven days, potentially adding £100 per month per meter in site visit charges if not addressed.
Zenergi can support schools by managing meter upgrades, ensuring compliance, and providing access to half-hourly data and analytics to help manage your energy consumption and reduce costs.
We have compiled further information detailing how MHHS will affect your school and what it means for your future energy budget, including a Stark webinar recording, Q&A and a white paper here: Market-wide Half-Hourly Settlement - Zenergi
