Sheldon School had two outdoor spaces, but without cover, neither of them got much use. A 12-foot umbrella canopy and a longer Connekt canopy over a grassed area are changing that. Both spaces will be covered, usable outdoor areas – somewhere for staff and pupils to actually spend time. The school plans to fit the grassed area out with benches and an all-weather surface underneath.
The school could have paid for the project outright. They chose not to. By using a finance lease, the full cost is spread across financial years rather than landing in one budget. Their reserves stay intact and cash is freed up for other projects.
Schools can now arrange finance leases directly, without the additional approval steps that used to apply. Finance covers 100% of the project cost – design, manufacture and installation – with repayments that fit around budget cycles rather than disrupting them. At the end of the lease, the canopy is owned by the school outright.
