Skills shortages are on the rise in education

According to the Hays 2025 Salary and Recruiting Trends Guide, 96% of employers in the education sector have faced skills shortages in the past 12 months, which is an increase on the year prior. The biggest driver of these skills shortages is deemed to be fewer people choosing to work in education, a potentially worrying trend that could have serious ramifications for the future of the sector. Giving pupils every chance of a successful future is dependent on having the right people with the right skills in place, from newly qualified teachers right through to executive leadership.

School business professionals play a crucial strategic role in schools, ensuring they run effectively and efficiently and deliver a first-class education for all children. But the varying roles and responsibilities of these professionals – covering a wide range of complex disciplines from entry-level administrators through to chief finance officers (CFOs) and chief operating officers (COOs) – can make recruiting and retaining them difficult.

To help you meet this challenge, we’re excited to have teamed up with the Institute of School Business Leadership (ISBL) to introduce a new and exclusive recruitment hub for school business professionals.

Interested in exclusive access to talent? ISBL members are privy to preferential rates and can also access a managed service that can be customised to their needs and budget.
