The School Food Standards Compliance Pilot, a joint initiative run by the Food Standards Agency (FSA) and Department for Education was launched in September this year. 18 local authorities across England are participating and it runs until the end of July 2023. The pilot scheme was initially announced in the Levelling Up White Paper earlier this year. The aim is to drive improvement in compliance with the School Food Standards.

The pilot approach will include adding some nutrition-focussed questions and reviews to the regular inspections undertaken by local authority Food Safety Officers. Where potential non-compliance is observed, the pilot will test the feasibility that a Food Safety officer should then share this information with a local authority team.

If you are in one of these pilot areas and would like your menus checking to see if they currently meet the required standards, Dukefield Foodservice are offering a service that can ensure your menus are compliant.
